International Women's Day - Inspire Inclusion!

International Women's Day (IWD) is a global initiative designed to celebrate women's achievements in all aspects of life and society. It's a day singled out each year to raise awareness about women's needs, to keep promoting change and collectively forge a more inclusive world for women.

This year, the theme is “Inspire Inclusion".

"One of the key challenges... is an alarming lack of financing with a staggering USD 360 billion annual deficit in spending on gender-equality measures." - UNWomen

This theme underscores the importance of inspiring others to understand and value women’s inclusion, so that around the world they can get access to the necessary resources, support, and opportunities to thrive, thereby catalyzing progress not only for women themselves but for society as a whole.

Why Inspire to Invest in Women

A vital aspect of inspiration that we can advocate for is the investment of education and healthcare for all women. This includes ensuring access to comprehensive healthcare, including menstrual health education and support. The menstrual cycle plays a crucial role in women's overall well-being, with patterns impacting various aspects of health, from cardiovascular health to hormonal balance.

Yet, misconceptions and societal norms often obscure this fundamental aspect of women's health, leading to inadequate understanding and care. It's time to challenge these misconceptions and empower women to take control of their menstrual health.

Menstrual cycle patterns can have a direct influence on physical well-being, including cardiovascular disease, migraine headaches, diabetes, and breast cancer.

How many of us go through life thinking that we can get pregnant any day of our cycle, that bleeds experienced while taking the pill are real periods, or that the menstrual cycle is only important if you want to have a baby? Worse still is the view that heavy periods, crippling cramps, and cyclic depression are normal, just part of the package of being a woman.

On this IWD, let's commit to challenging outdated beliefs and embracing knowledge as a tool for empowerment. By tracking our menstrual cycles and understanding our bodies' signals, we can gain valuable insights into our health and fertility. Fertility awareness practices, such as tracking basal body temperature and other fertility symptoms, offer a holistic understanding of women's reproductive health and overall well-being.

Armed with this knowledge, women can make informed decisions about their health, fertility, and overall wellness. By investing in women's health and empowerment, we not only accelerate progress towards gender equality but also create a more just and equitable society for all.

Knowledge Is Power

Fertility Awareness is the practice of daily tracking sleeping temperature results in conjunction with other fertility symptoms. Start connecting the dots and learn how your cycle is an insight into your inner being and whole-body health. You can see for yourself if, and when you are ovulating, narrow down your fertile window, and even understand better if your hormone levels are adequate to promote total wellness.

With this new inner knowledge, you can put yourself in the driver's seat and break free from the misconceptions that have kept so many women without freedom of choice when it comes to their fertility!
